The procurement process is far from simple, but there are a few key steps that we follow to ensure that all runs as smoothly as possible and achieves the best available price and service:

  • Maintain an understanding of all suppliers, their requirements and market aspirations: we maintain excellent relationships with all key suppliers.
  • Presenting clients energy usage in such a way as to maximise the impact of tenders, ensuring prompt responses and avoid future transfer and billing problems.
  • Timing the decision on when to commit according to market intelligence and prices:
    The wholesale energy markets are becoming increasingly volatile, and being able to act when opportunities present themselves by preparing well in advance by gathering data to enable a tender at any time.
  • A knowledge of movements and drivers in the wholesale energy markets which underpin retail pricing;
  • An awareness of the performance of suppliers in respect of customer service.

Our energy procurement service is managed by key personnel with more than 13 years experience of working on both supply and energy buyer sides of the equation. This unique insight makes the service a natural complement to day-to-day use of Optima.
