Carbon Reporting
Cutting carbon, not cutting corners
Measure your emissions for the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme and avoid being overcharged
The Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC) is an emissions trading scheme that aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted in the UK. Its introduction brings an increased need to monitor and benchmark energy usage.
The CRC will apply to all organisations consuming over 6,000 MWh of electricity per year. These organisations will be taxed for the carbon dioxide emissions that are attributable to energy consumption.
When the scheme starts, organisations will need to monitor and report all energy use emissions from all sources – electricity, gas and other fuels. An automatic 10% uplift will be applied to estimated consumption figures. Providing accurate energy consumption data will allow you to avoid this unnecessary cost. So now, more than ever, organisations should take measures to monitor and benchmark their energy usage.
With additional regulation comes additional work. Optima Services can help you find your way through this new reporting maze. Using the Optima Carbon Footprint software, our team can help you submit accurate consumption data, quickly, easily and efficiently producing the Footprint and Annual Reports required to comply with CRC.
