A leading energy management software company is reminding organisations about the importance of making their energy data systems are secure and robust.
The call from Optima Energy comes during European Cyber Security Month (ECSM), which aims to highlight the importance of information security and the simple steps organisations can take to protect data, whether personal, financial or professional.
The company, which has been developing advanced energy management software for more than 30 years, says energy data is one of the areas most at risk from attack, but often gets overlooked, particularly in the NHS.
Steve Kemp, Optima Energy’s Business Development Director, comments: “Far too often, the security of energy management software is overlooked when it should be an absolute priority. The value of energy-related data is considerable and hackers are always trying to find innovative ways to infiltrate systems. And it is the fact that these cyber threats can go unnoticed until the real damage is clear that makes them so dangerous.”
As a result of the threat to energy data, Mr Kemp says more companies are investing in advanced software to keep such sensitive data safe.
He adds: “The number of cyber-security threats is growing all the time. And whilst some businesses have made more progress than others, there are is still a large proportion whose systems and operations are at risk. We are committed to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our customers’ data, and by investing in secure energy management software organisations can enjoy peace of mind in at least one major area of operations.”
